2017 Testing Procedures and Placement
In order to serve our students most effectively, students who are admitted to VUL may be required to take placement tests to determine their level of proficiency in language arts and math skills. If a student scores below the required level on a test, the student will be required to take enrichment classes to acquire or improve the skills necessary to achieve success in higher college level courses.
All students who are accepted to VUL in the Summer Fast Track Program or for the regular term will be tested for placement in English and math. The English test consists of a reading section and a composition section. Those who score below a passing grade will be required to take the QC classes for those subjects. A student must receive a grade of “C” or better in a QC class to be enrolled in a college level English or math course. The only exception will be if a student has satisfactory ACT or SAT scores.
ACT and SAT scores are not required for admittance to Virginia University of Lynchburg. However, if a student has taken the ACT or SAT and has acceptable scores, that student will be exempt from taking the Placement Tests and can enter college level English and math classes upon admittance. A student must achieve a score of 16 or higher on the ACT or a score of 860 or higher on the SAT.
